MIT School of Distance Education (MITSDE)
is an integral
constituent of MAEER's MIT Pune, established in the year 2008.
MAEER's MIT was founded in the year 1983 by
Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, (Founder, Executive
President & Managing Trustee) along with the collective efforts of many educationists,
scientists and social thinkers. MIT is among the first in professional education offering
academic programs at more than 90 institutions and 5 universities across India.
Drawing on the rich history of excellence in education and innovation, MITSDE offers unique curriculum design and apt delivery methodologies, and hence they come together to offer the best-designed distance education programs that efficiently bridge the skills gap for working professionals.
MIT School of Distance Education (MITSDE) offers Post Graduate Programs with specialisations in various domains namely Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Operations, Information Technology, Insurance and Risk , Logistics and Supply Chain and Retail. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad is a visionary educationist and institution builder who has redefined higher education in India through a unique integration of science, technology, and spirituality.
As the Founder and Chief Patron of MAEER's MIT Group of Institutions and Founder President of MIT World Peace University, he has built a globally respected education ecosystem spanning multiple disciplines, shaping generations of future-ready and value-driven leaders.
Inspired by the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, he pioneered the concept of “Education for Peace, Harmony, and Progress,” making it the foundation of MIT's academic vision. His leadership has transformed MIT into a large-scale institution known for academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development.
Recognized for his contribution to education and society, Dr. Karad continues to lead a movement that goes beyond learning - towards building a more enlightened, responsible, and peaceful world.
Dr. Sunil Karad

Dr. Sunil Karad is a transformative education leader driving strategic growth and innovation across India's higher education ecosystem.
As Executive Director & Trustee of the MIT Group of Institutions, he plays a key role in shaping and scaling a vast academic network impacting over 50,000 learners annually. With a proven track record of establishing 10+ new-age institutions, his leadership is defined by execution excellence, structured planning, and long-term institutional vision.
He holds a PG Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the University of Oxford, a PhD and Master's from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a Bachelor's in Engineering from the University of Pune - bringing a strong global academic foundation to his leadership approach.
A strong believer in technology-led transformation, Dr. Karad is the founding force behind Edugild, a global platform supporting edtech startups in AI, XR, and emerging learning technologies. His work continues to bridge education, entrepreneurship, and innovation, enabling more accessible, scalable, and future-ready learning systems.

As Director since 2018, he has led MITSDE with unwavering authority and strategic clarity - transforming it into a high-impact, industry-aligned institution built for scale, relevance, and real career outcomes. His leadership goes beyond administration; it is rooted in institution-building, system thinking, and a sharp focus on delivering measurable value to learners and industries alike.
With over two decades of cross-functional expertise spanning academia, research, and business development, Dr. Neurgaonkar brings command over monetary economics, management, and organizational strategy. He is known for building resilient teams, driving innovation at scale, and establishing frameworks that sustain long-term growth.
Armed with a Ph.D. in Management and advanced qualifications in finance and commerce, he combines intellectual depth with executive precision.
